Canon 5D Mark III sets for 2nd March Launch

We had previously reported that Canon’s next-generation 5D DSLR could be launching in February 28th. But it's already 29th February and still it hasn't released to market yet. So it’s obvious that those rumors did not pan out. Today we got a reliable evidence of release date of March 2nd for Canon 5D MK III. That's the invitation card Canon is sending out the various media, indicating that an event will be taking place on the 2nd of March. While it did not specifically mention the launch of the 5D MK III, the 2nd of March date seems to be in line with earlier rumors of a March launch.

LG Optimus 3D Max to arrive at Mobile World Congress 2012

Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona is happening next week, and you can expect LG to make quite a splash there – considering how MWC is the platform where the South Korean company is going to unveil their latest glasses-free 3D device known as the LG Optimus 3D Max. Boasting powerful 3D technology as well as a design that is fashion forward, the Optimus 3D Max intends to deliver a complete 3D entertainment platform as well as further cement LG’s 3D ecosystem with yet another high-end device.

It has been touted that the LG Optimus 3D Max is a powerful smartphone regardless of whether you use it in 2D and 3D mode – and with LG’s exclusive brightened display, your eyes will not suffer even after prolonged periods of viewing. Apart from that, LG has bumped up the Optimus 3D Max’s 3G’s network speed to HSPA+ 21Mbps, and with the inclusion of LG Tag+, you are on the receiving end of advanced NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities which was specially designed to promote greater user convenience. Let us read more about what the LG Optimus 3D Max is capable of right after the jump.

The automatic setting changes is one of the main benefits of NFC integration, where predefined tags which have been customized to certain modes such as car-mode, office-mode or sleepmode will kick in with but a simple touch. Apart from that, LG looks to the future with such benefits that will be demonstrated on the MWC showfloor, including making it available via a Maintenance Release or an application available on the LG SmartWorld.

There is also a HD Converter feature which allows HD quality playback on a TV that is connected through MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link), making it useful when transforming Open GL-based 2D games and applications to 3D and viewing Google Earth, while the Range Finder allows the smartphone to calculate the distance between the camera and the subject as well as the dimensions of an object through triangulation, with an Out-focusing Shot option to enhance camera quality beyond that of other smart-phones through image processing using depth information.

Other hardware specifications include a 1.2GHz Dual-Core processor, a 4.3″ 3D WVGA Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 8GB of internal storage space, 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel Dual-lens camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the operating system of choice, HDMI connectivity, and a 1,520 mAh battery.

Ubuntu for Android - New era of computing begins

Ubuntu wallpaper, Ubuntu for Android
Did everyone see the news yesterday? It would have been easy enough to skip over the story, but Canonical announced its idea for bringing Ubuntu, and therefore Linux, to mobile devices (and we're talking proper Linux, not just Android). If you don't count Android (as most Linux users wouldn't), Linux is the last major desktop OS to make the transition to mobile. The strange thing is that with Ubuntu for Android, Canonical isn't exactly creating a mobile OS, just a way to easily transition from mobile to desktop and back. This sort of straddling the line has both its advantages and disadvantages, but still gives us a view of what the future holds for computing.

Canonical will be showing off the Ubuntu for Android software in full at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week. Of course, we should have known that Linux makers wouldn't sit back and let Apple, Microsoft and Google take over the tablet space; and, we should have known that Ubuntu would be the first Linux distro to really push to make the leap. What we couldn't have seen coming was that Canonical would not only bring Ubuntu as a player to the game, but give us a sneak peek into the future of computing. And, we mean all computing, not just desktop or mobile. This is the future.

Leaked image of Microsoft App for iPad
Pic courtesy of The Daily

There’s a big rumor on web about yet to be released Microsoft office app for iPads. The daily, which is the source of this buzz have put a picture of an iPad with Microsoft office app is opened and then rumor started to fire all over the world. According to The daily, Microsoft office app will be submitting to the approval by Apple and will be released in the coming weeks.

Replying to this story, Microsoft spokesperson said that the Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation. However they have not yet denied about making an office package for iPads. Replying to the denial by Microsoft, Peter Ha, tech editor at The Daily, said that a Microsoft employee had demonstrated a version of the app on an iPad. “The launch screen may not be final, but the app itself is real,” Mr. Ha said. “We were told that the app was done and it was being tested internally.” However, with these rumors buzzing, we can hope for a Microsoft office package for iPads in this year.

Waiting is over for iPad 3

march 7 2012 - iPad 3 release date
March 7 - iPad 3 release date

According to sources, Apple currently plans to hold their iPad 3 announcement on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. As March 7 is also a Wednesday, it seems to be believable enough to be the iPad 3 launch date. The reason is that  it was a Wednesday when Apple announced iPad 1 and iPad 2 too and this day has been a traditional one for the Cupertino  Company to hold such events.

There are rumors going around that the iPad 3 will see a higher resolution screen than its predecessors, with Sharp’s IGZO panel purportedly being the one that your eyes will meet when you unwrap and power on the iPad 3 for the first time. Apart from that, there is also the possibility of 4G connectivity for US high-speed networks being thrown into the mix. Other rumors claim a quad-core processor – which is a vast improvement over the dual-core A5 processor that we see in the current iPad model.

Notepad ++ Lightweight text/source editor

Notepad ++ is a truly amazing software which is very useful to me for more than 2 years. Its usages rage from a text editor to a source code editor with lot of rich text options. It doesn’t ‘eat’ your CPU power like many other rich text editors and with every new version it’s getting more powerful keeping the simple core design.
Notepad ++ has a very rich plugin library as well as good documentation and supportive forums
Moreover, I like the Chameleon J
